Ph.D. Student, Robotics, Georgia Institute of Technology (4th year)
B.S. in Control Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University

Bangyuan is interested in biomorphic and non-biomorphic robotics design, modeling, and control for multiple environments. Inspired by nature animals’ soft-tissue and rigid-skeleton structure, he focuses on designing robots that consist of a combination of soft actuators, rigid and flexible components. Additionally, he is interested in designing robots with the vertebrae structure and undulatory motion pattern, which appears in body structure and motion pattern for animals swimming in water and sand.

Research Projects
Non-Biomorphic Soft Swimming Robot
Shallow Sand Terrain Burrowing and Swimming Robot
Kirigami Skin Covered Earthworm Robot
